Artist of their own Education

These workshops are based on following children's lead throughout their play and developing effective planning in response! I am incredibly passionate about making our learning environments about children, with children and for children.

One more thing...

Each workshop is designed to suit time frames, approx 1h-15 minutes via online.  Please get in touch to learn prices or to combine workshops to suit  any preferred hours e.g. morning sessions/ staff training days :) Use the contract page or alternatively email at educationball@outlook.com

Following their lead

I've been teaching for many years and yet I still learn something new each day!

I can remember being told these exact lines whilst I was on a practicum from another experienced teacher.

In this workshop, educators can explore exactly that! How do children inspire us? How can we learn from them?  Why is it so important to allow them to learn from one and other in order to nurture their development and build effective relationships?

The following themes are explored throughout this workshop:

The learners- who?

Child-made

Empowering them

Following their interests

'It honestly is their education, and not ours!'

I have noticed throughout my teaching experiences that when we respond to a child's interest we are telling that child that they belong in the class, their ideas valid and we will listen to them!

Right, I will shock you..... I love planning- I do because I have always followed the children's interests and listened to their voice. I find it more fun and meaningful this way. I get just as excited as they do about the things and ideas that we have planned for in the play-based learning environment!

In this workshop, I will show you how to plan using children's interest, empower their ideas, extend their thinking and understand the importance  all of this.  We will explore the following themes:

Their interests & knowledge

Planning

Little tips & ideas

The Value and Song of Nature

' When I look back now I do not feel as though my play-based learning environmnets would have been the same without Animals living by our side'

Above is something only this year I have begun to realise more and more. Since living here in New Zealand I have noticed the powers that Nature has throughout childhood development. I have reflected and thought about ways that educators can welcome more Nature into their everyday learning environment. In this workshop, I am keen to show and tell all about my creative ideas and passion for teaching alongside Nature. From catching fallen leaves to measuring rain this workshop is full of insights and learning ideas!

The workshop is organized into the following themes:

1. Memories

2. Nature's Classroom

3. Healings and Meanings.
